On Sunday (August 25), Livebitez posted a video on social media featuring Uncle Luke expressing his thoughts on female rappers in the game. In the clip, which you can watch below, the 2 Live Crew founder boldly asked to receive a check from every female rhymer in the industry.
“I need a check from Ice Spice. I need a check from Sexyy Red. All the royalty girls, Megan Thee Stallion. Whoever is running around rocking the characters,” Luke said.
“Male rap is in some bulls**t right now, I'm sorry,” he continued. “Women win. They do what I did. I'm still waiting for these girls to send me an af**king check.”
“I need a check from Ice Spice flipping her a*s and dropping it like it's hot and black,” she added. “I need a check from her, I need a check from Sexy Red. Well, this Red is my friend. My man Stan.”
“All the Megan Thee Stallion Kings girls. Anyone running around shaking their a*s talking p***y and d*ck on the record needs to send me a check.”
According to Uncle Luke, he believes he paved the way for female artists to rock and shake their behinds on stage.
While Uncle Luke may have meant well with his hot demand, fans may be wondering if he's ever asked Nicki Minaj, Lil' Kim, Trina, or Foxy Brown for payment for their groundbreaking contributions to the rap game. These iconic female artists broke down doors and made their voices heard in a genre traditionally dominated by male rappers.

Female rappers dominate hip-hop but lack album sales
Uncle Luke is right, the women's hip-hop movement has been winning in recent years. The current crop of superstars: Nicki Minaj, Doja Cat, Cardi B, Latto, GloRilla and more have given star power, but it doesn't always translate into album sales.
Using the past 12 months from August 2023 as a barometer, sales figures have remained flat despite female rappers dominating streaming platforms, radio and online conversations. The truth of the matter is that fans just don't buy their music. However, female artists have adapted to the situation by exploring alternative income streams. Sponsored content and other affiliate promotions on social media platforms have become lucrative opportunities for them. Despite stagnant album sales, these women continue to push boundaries and remain influential in a genre historically dominated by misogyny.
