Travis Scott was arrested in Paris on Friday morning (August 9) for allegedly assaulting a security guard, reports BBC Newsbeat. He has since been released from custody without formal charges, his reps tell Pitchfork. The Associated Press reports, via a statement from the Paris prosecutor's office, that charges are not being brought “because the incident was minor.”
The incident took place outside the George V Hotel when Scott attended a basketball game with Quavo at the Olympics. According to police, the security guard was trying to break up an argument between Scott and his bodyguard.
In a statement reported by the Associated Press, the Paris prosecutor's office said: “I can confirm that on August 9, 2024, police officers were called to the George V Hotel and arrested the rapper with the moniker Travis Scott for assaulting a security guard.”
A spokesman for Scott said: “We are in direct contact with the local authorities in Paris to quickly resolve this issue and will provide updates when necessary.” No one has reported injuries or been charged, a source close to the situation told Pitchfork.
Yesterday, an earlier charge against Scott for disorderly conduct in Miami was dropped, TMZ reported. In this case, the misdemeanor violation charge still applies.
