A reissue of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers' 1982 album, Long After Darkis scheduled for release on October 18. The remastered LP comes with 12 bonus tracks, including seven previously unreleased tracks. To accompany the reissue, the Petty Legacy archives will share a number of unearthed songs and videos from 1982-83 over the coming weeks. Below, see the first, a 1982 version of “Straight Into Darkness,” filmed for French television by director Alan Bibby.
Among the bonus tracks are some that Petty wanted on the original album, notes a press release. “There was some music recording for Long After Dark that didn't make the record, that I thought would have made it a better album,” Petty was quoted as saying. “I left… four things I liked quite a bit. And probably a few more written that didn't even get in the door.” Reissue liner notes are by David Fricke, with commentary by Jimmy Iovine and Cameron Crowe. Check out the tracklist below.
