TI announces he's done live shows after recently winning a $71 million lawsuit.
Tip announces retirement from live performance
On Thursday (October 10), TI and Young Dro were special guests on 96.1 The Beat in Atlanta on the Rari at 2 show with Rari Simmons. The appearance was in part to promote Tip's headlining gig at the station's upcoming Jingle Ball concert on December 19. However, Kang shocked the host when he announced that it would be his last appearance.
“Thank you all for giving me my last concert,” TI says in the video below. “Because I don't need the money anymore and I won't play. I don't want to do it anymore.”
When asked if he was serious, Tip doubled down. “Yeah, I don't want people paying me to jump and sweat for their entertainment anymore.”
As previously reported, last month TI and his wife Tameka “Tiny” Harris won a $71 million judgment from LOL Surprise doll MGA Entertainment in their OMG Girlz lawsuit.
Tiny formed the pop group OMG Girlz, which consists of Tiny's daughter Zonnique “Star” Pullins, Bahja Rodriguez and Breaunna “Babydoll” Womack, in 2009. The couple sued the toy maker in 2020, accusing them of infringing the team's name, image and likeness with the company's LOL Surprise! OMG dolls, mirroring OMG Girlz in appearance. After four years in court, Tip and Tiny prevailed.
TI jokingly refers to the big payout during the interview. “They're trying to rob me,” TI jokes when the host mentions the lawsuit. “How about that, they should post my accounts. Post how many accounts I have. That's more interesting.”
