A new film from Abel “The Weeknd” Tesfaye, which shares a title with his upcoming album, Hurry up tomorrowhas been given a North American release date of May 16, 2025, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The suspense thriller stars The Weeknd alongside Jenna Ortega and Barry Keoghan, and is directed by Trey Edward Shults (known for the A24 films Wavy and It comes at night) on the steering wheel. The film will also feature music by the Weeknd's frequent collaborator Daniel “Oneohtrix Point Never” Lopatin. The Weeknd and his company Manic Phase are producing the film for Lionsgate.
Hurry up tomorrowthe film, follows the Weeknd's ill-fated TV series, The idolwhich was canceled last year, after (or, some reports said, during) its first season. The new album, meanwhile, is expected to be released on January 24. Completes the 2020 trilogy After Hours and 2022 Dawn FMthe latter of which appeared in Pitchfork's roundup of “The 100 Best Albums of the 2020s So Far”.
