For the second year in a row, Philadelphia's Made in America Festival has been canceled. Organizers of the event revealed the news in a statement today, but did not give a specific reason for the cancellation. Instead, the festival's production team said it was “reimagining a live music experience that reaffirms our love and dedication to music and the work we do.” Find the full statement below.
Last year's festival was canceled due to “severe circumstances beyond production control,” as Made in America put it at the time. SZA and Lizzo were set to headline the 2023 event, which was scheduled for September 2-3. The cancellation came after Lizzo was hit with a lawsuit from former dancers alleging sexual harassment and a hostile work environment.
Lizzo has denied all charges. In the fall of 2023, he sued a former tour manager over working conditions. She then filed a formal denial in response to the lawsuit brought by her former dancers.
