Hard Quartet have shared a new song, “Our Hometown Boy.” It's the third single from the new band's self-titled debut featuring Pavement's Stephen Malkmus with Chavez's Matt Sweeney, Dirty Three's Jim White and Cairo Gang's Emmett Kelly—the latter of whom takes lead vocals on the track . Watch the video for the new song below.
Sweeney said, in a press release, that the song “shows why Jim White, Steve Malkmus and I are so excited to be in a band with Emmett Kelly. It's crazy how good Emmett is at music.”
Kelly added: “On 'Our Hometown Boy,' Hard Quartet mythologizes the wild denizens of our shared boats and sangrias from the vantage point of a beach-famous background. A discussion of what heaven looks like looking out a bar window in a blizzard. Adventures in the Leather Trade. On the run and on the road. The green grass of the house.”
“Our Hometown Boy” follows debut single “Earth Hater” and the Sweeney-led “Rio's Song,” which comes with a Rolling Stones tribute music video filled with Easter Eggs.
The Hard Quartet is out on October 4th at Matador and the band are playing their first shows next week.
