Following its debut last February, the Music Sustainability Summit has announced the date for its second conference in Los Angeles.
Focused on creating solutions to the climate crisis within the music industry, the Summit will take place on Monday, February 3rd. Like this year's event, the Summit will take place the day after the Grammy Awards.
The venue for the 2025 Summit has yet to be announced. The event was conceived and produced by the Music Sustainability Alliance.
“The Summit represents a meeting of minds working on the sustainability of the music industry, both
leaders and students,” CEO and co-founder of the Music Sustainability Alliance Amy Morrison says in a statement. “Industry has almost limitless potential to shape the future we all want to see by supporting and spreading leading practices and technologies that can address the climate crisis, the biodiversity crisis, the waste crisis and other societal challenges. The summit represents an annual opportunity for collective learning and to showcase and accelerate industry progress.”
Last year's Summit featured more than 300 workers from across the music industry, with one-day panels focusing on the impact of climate change on their business.
In addition, MSA also announced a new monthly webinar series called The Green Room. The free series launches Sept. 3 with a session titled “Turning Fans Into Activists,” which will focus on how artists encourage fans to become politically active and how they can do so without alienating fans.
Upcoming Green Room topics include creating a zero-waste event and music and the regulatory environment. The series is hosted by MSA's director of strategy Joel McCowerwho is also the chairman and co-founder of GreenBiz Group.
