SOPHIE's first posthumous album announced. SOPHIA, produced by the late artist and Benny Long, is out September 27 via Transgressive and Future Classic. Headlining the album is a collaboration with BC Kingdom and Kim Petras called “Reason Why”. Listen to it below.
SOFI died at the age of 34 from an accidental fall in Athens, in January 2021. She released the only studio album of her life, Oil of Every Pearl's Un-Insidesin June 2018. For the project, she was nominated for Best Dance/Electronic Album at the 2019 Grammy Awards.
Very little of SOFI's music has been released since her death. Among the works available to the public are Jlin's collaboration “Jsloipnhie” and the production for Hyd and Basside.
According to a press release, SOPHIE was almost done SOPHIA before he died. The new album is also billed as “SOPHIE's final album release”.
