Although the PlayStation 5 was released just a few years ago in November 2020, Sony has announced an upgrade to the company's PlayStation 5 Pro gaming console. Simply called PlayStation 5 Pro, the new system promises more realistic graphics, smoother motion and deeper details for gamers.
Priced at $699.99, the Sony PlayStation 5 Pro (Digital Edition) game console is currently available at PlayStation Direct, Walmart, Target, and Amazon.
PS5 Pro is designed to perform better with high-refresh rate 4K TVs and gaming monitors with AI-enhanced Ultra HD video output up to 120Hz. This means games will look and run smoother and more fluidly without lag or loss of video quality.
The new gaming console also features advance ray tracing, meaning reflections, shadows and lighting in the game will look more realistic with stunning graphics. This adds to the immersion of the game so it feels more true to life.

All PS5 games — incl Astro Bot, Gran Turismo 7, Horizon Forbidden West, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, The Last of Us, Part II and more — are compatible with the PS5 Pro, which doubles the storage capacity from 1TB to 2TB built-in. The gaming console also featured faster Wi-Fi connectivity for faster downloads, cloud gaming and data transfer.
PS5 Pro comes with Sony's PS DualSense wireless controller, which is the best gaming controller for detailed haptic feedback and adaptive triggers. However, if you want to add a 4K Ultra HD drive, you'll pay an additional $79.99. Additionally, a vertical stand for the system costs an additional $29.99.
While the PS5 Pro is designed to play video games, the new console is also an entertainment hub with all kinds of streaming services. It even includes access to Spotify, Apple Music and more to listen to thousands of recording artists – including Beyoncé, Chappell Roan, Olivia Rodrigo, Sabrina Carpenter, Pom Pom Squad, Hippo Campus, Turnstile and more – when you play your favorite games.
Additionally, all PS5 accessories — such as PS Pulse Explore Wireless Headset, PS Pulse Elite Wireless Gaming Headset, PS Portal, PSVR2 Headset and PS Access Controller — work with PS5 Pro.
Available right now, the new Sony PlayStation 5 Pro is priced at $699.99 at PS Direct, Walmart, Target and Amazon. In the meantime, watch the console reveal trailer below:
