Jason Aldean and his wife Brittany Aldean shared their reactions after former president (and current presidential candidate) Donald Trump was convicted on 34 felony charges. The Trump verdict marks the first criminal conviction of a former president in US history.
The “Try That in a Small Town” singer took to Instagram to share a photo of an upside-down American flag — a symbol among Trump supporters meant to signal a country in crisis — along with a caption about the verdict. “Scary times in our country right now, man. When a former POTUS is treated like this by our justice system, what does that mean for the rest of us???'' He wrote. “If there was ever a time to talk, IT IS NOW! Make no mistake…. We are in trouble.”
Meanwhile, Brittany Aldean posted on Instagram, “WE LOVE YOU @realdonaldtrump. Those with brains can see through the smear campaign.”
On May 30, after a seven-week trial, a Manhattan jury found Trump guilty of all 34 counts of falsifying business records in the first degree. Trump's sentencing court date is set for July 11, four days before the Republican National Convention begins. Trump faces either a fine, probation or up to four years in prison.
The Aldais have been linked to Trump in the past, including at Trump's New Year's Eve gala and golfing with Trump in Florida in 2022.
Aldean is currently on his Highway Desperado tour and recently paid tribute to the late country music artist Toby Keith during the Academy of Country Music Awards by performing Keith's “Should've Been a Cowboy.”
