Sacred Bones Records has announced a new collection of music from the late cult artist Q Lazzarus. Goodbye Horses: The Many Lives of Q Lazzarus (Music From the Motion Picture) is a 21-song compilation featuring a host of previously unreleased tracks, all recorded between 1985 and 1995. The songs were recovered from Q Lazzarus' digital tape and cassette archive and will now be released as a 10-track vinyl album, with additional cuts on digital and CD publications. Check out the tracklist below, along with a new version of Q Lazzarus' biggest hit, “Goodbye Horses.”
Q Lazzarus died, in 2022, after a short illness. was 61. The singer was working with director and friend Aridjis Fuentes on a documentary, also titled Goodbye Horses: The Many Lives of Q Lazzarusand the new music collection is released in conjunction with this project.
“Goodbye Horses” appeared in two Jonathan Demme films: 1988; Married to the moband, most famously, in 1991 The Silence of the Lamb's, where he scored an unforgettable scene with the film's main villain, Buffalo Bill. Q Lazzarus met Demme by chance when he was driving a taxi in the 1980s. He met Aridjis in a similar way when he served as her driver in New York in 2019.
