Rick Ross sued over lack of wheelchair access at auto show
According to a TMZ report published Friday (August 9), Rick Ross is being sued by a disabled man who claims he was unable to attend the Miami rapper's 2024 Miami Auto and Bike Show despite the fact that he had tickets. Rozay's annual car show was held at his sprawling property in Fayetteville, Georgia, dubbed “The Promise Land,” on June 1.
In his suit, Darris Straughter, who uses a wheelchair for mobility, expressed excitement about attending Ross's event but had no transportation. Despite claiming to have received multiple assurances that a wheelchair-accessible bus would be provided, a vehicle never arrived to pick him up.
Darris claimed that he sold his own car just to get a ticket to the Rick Ross Car & Bike Show and paid for his travel and accommodation expenses. He also claims he contacted the venue two weeks in advance to let them know he needed wheelchair accessible accommodation. Darris claims the organizers told him they would have a bus to take him from the parking lot to Rozay's event.
Darris and his attorney, John Hoover Esq., claim organizers promised refunds to anyone who didn't attend the event, but claim no one followed up. Darris is suing Rick Ross for breach of contract, unjust enrichment and violation of the Americans with Disabilities Act. He is seeking compensation and assurances that Ross's annual event will provide access to disabled people in the future.
