Kaskade will replace Tiësto as the Super Bowl's first in-game DJ, with the latter producer pulling out of the gig earlier Thursday (February 8), citing a “personal family emergency.”
Hours after Tiësto dropped out, Kaskade—real name: Ryan Raddon—announced that he would join, Writing to X that “As a kid who grew up in Chicago watching the NFL Super Bowl every year with my family, this opportunity to actually be a part of it is absolutely mind-blowing.
“Las Vegas has been my second home for the past decade, as an architect of creating a landscape that includes dance music houses and residences as part of its destination,” he continues. “Being able to be the first electronic musician to be a part of the full Super Bowl game experience held in Las Vegas feels like coming home and I'm very excited to represent my community.”
Kaskade will spin during halftime for the 2024 Super Bowl, with portions of his performance airing during Super Bowl LVIII on CBS this Sunday.
When he announced that he would no longer be playing the concert, Tiësto wrote that “My team and I have been planning something really special for months, but a personal family emergency is forcing me to return home on Sunday morning. It was a tough decision to miss the game, but family always comes first. We thank the NFL for the partnership and look forward to working with them to deliver something incredible together in the future!”
