On Wednesday, January 29, 2025, four days before the 67th Annual Grammy Awards, the Recording Academy Producers & Engineers (P&E) Wing will honor the producer, engineer and mixer Jimmy Douglas in the annual Grammy Week celebration. The event will be held at The Preserve LA in East Hollywood.
“Our P&E department proudly celebrates Grammy Week each year with a special night that brings together producers, engineers and art professionals to honor a truly deserving creator,” said Harvey Mason Jr., CEO of the Recording Academy. “This year, we are thrilled to pay tribute to the extraordinary Jimmy Douglass, who led pioneering creative and technical efforts in the recording industry, encouraging artists to push the boundaries of the genre and contributing to iconic musical works that will resonate for generations.”
“Throughout his illustrious career spanning more than four decades, Jimmy's visionary approach to production, engineering and mixing has shaped some of music's most iconic recordings,” he said. Douglass (aka The Senator) is a five-time Grammy winner for his work on Justin Timberlake's “SexyBack” (Best Dance Recording, 2007). Timberlake's “Love Stoned/I Think She Knows” (Best Dance Recording, 2008). John Legend & The Roots' Wake up! (Best R&B Album, 2011), CeCe Winans' Let them fall in love (best gospel album, 2018) and Andra Day's United States vs. Billie Holiday (best musical score for visual media, 2022).
Douglas has also received five album of the year nominations for his work on Missy Elliott's Under Constructionby Timberlake Justified and FutureSex/LoveSoundsPharrell Williams' Girl, and Jay-Z 4:44. Additionally, it scored two record nods of the year for Timberlake's “What Goes Around…Comes Around” and Jay-Z's “The Story of OJ.”
In addition to paying tribute to Douglas, the event will celebrate the work of the Producers & Engineers Wing and its members throughout the year.
Grammy Week culminates with the 67th Annual Grammy Awards at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on Sunday, February 2, 2025, airing live on CBS and streaming live and on-demand on Paramount+ from 8-11:30 p.m. ET/5- 8:30 p.m. PT. Prior to the telecast, the Grammy Awards premiere ceremony will take place at the Peacock Theater at 12:30 p.m. PT/3:30 p.m. ET and will be streamed live on live.Grammy.com and the Recording Academy's YouTube channel.
