The Progeny The franchise returns next month and in a music video that will premiere exclusively on Advertising sign below, the last Villain Kid was caught Red-handed over.
Descendants: The Rise of Red — coming to Disney+ on July 12 before debuting on Disney Channel on August 9 — features Kylie Cantrall (High School Musical: The Musical: The Series) as Red, the daughter of the Queen of Hearts (Rita Ora) from Alice in Wonderland. The new video is for Cantrall's signature song, simply titled “Red,” which sees her character dodging Wonderland soldiers (including Alex Boniello's singing guard) while protecting her queen mother as she roams the shadows of the castle.
“I'm on a path of destruction, this is gonna be fun,” Cantrall sings with a twinkle in her eye, donning a bedazzled hood and mask with red eyes covered in hearts and tossing a red balloon filled with red paint into a giant portrait of tyranny her mom.
“'Red' is one of my favorite numbers in the movie,” says Cantrall Advertising sign of the original song. “It's this explosive number – it's bold and wild, kind of who Red is. It gives people a really cool look inside Wonderland and the toil and turmoil that Red goes through when the lights go out and the village sleeps, and she wanders the town and breaks free and does her thing. The song shows who she is at her core and will give audiences a chance to really get to know her.”
In The rise of red — his fourth film Progeny franchise and the first since 2021 The Royal Wedding — Cantrall's Red teams up with Chloe (Malia Baker), the daughter of Cinderella (Brandy, reprising the role nearly 30 years later), to travel back in time and try to prevent the evil reign of the Queen of Hearts.
In addition to the music video, fans can find “Red” on Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music and other digital platforms, while the film's soundtrack is available for pre-order and pre-order through Walt Disney Records.
