Pusha T is the latest artist to get into the coffee game, officially launching his own brand.
While his name might sound like coffee isn't his first preference, the rapper has dug deep into his discography for the budding brew, named Grindin' Coffee after Clipse's 2002 debut single, “Grindin'.” , which reached No. 30 of Bulletin board Hot 100.
Pusha's mixtape debuted earlier this month as part of a pop-up event in Los Angeles alongside Tyler, the Creator's Camp Flog Gnaw festival. According to a press release, it's described as a “highly caffeinated blend” of “strong black coffee that reflects the taste of the artist.”
“All my dreams and ideas start from my passions,” he said of his new product on social media. “Fortunately, I was able to find partnerships and platforms to help bring my visions to life. That's just a part of me and how I start my day.”
Grindin' Coffee's nascent announcement follows Pusha T's recent description of fellow rapper Kendrick Lamar as “the king of lyrics.”
During a panel at Revolt World in Atlanta, the Virginia MC spoke highly of his fellow rapper after being asked by moderator Walter Tucker what he thought of Lamar's impact on rap music.
“It's amazing,” Pusha said of Lamar's impact on rap music during a panel at Revolt World in Atlanta in September. “I'm sure people have told him and have told him throughout his career, 'Oh, my God. You rap well. You're great, but you rap too much. You should make a song like that. You have to do this.” It's amazing to see him just being who he is, being the lyrical king.”
“And people who never listen to lyrics recite his freestyles, his fights, his songs,” he added. “It's great to watch. And it's great for what we do in lyrical hip-hop. It's great to see.”
