Nicki Minaj reflects on feeling “subhuman” following a May 25 incident in which the “Super Bass” rapper was arrested in the Netherlands for alleged “drug trafficking.” As a result, Minaj was forced to reschedule the Manchester, United Kingdom, date of her Pink Friday 2 World Tour.
“I can't get to Manchester, I don't know when was the last time I felt this low,” he said during a Head of station appearance, according to Pulse. Minaj also claimed that her arrest was due to racial discrimination, noting that her treatment by Amsterdam officials was “disgusting”. He continued, “Not only that, but knowing that something is being done to you on purpose simply because you're another confident race. I wouldn't wish that on anyone.”
The incident was captured by Minaj in a later Instagram Live video her fans reposted on social media. In the video, a Dutch police officer can be heard saying that he is detaining Minaj for “transporting drugs”, despite her claim that she had none.
“I'm not going in there. I need a lawyer present,” Minaj replied, before the staff asked her to get into their vehicle and stop recording. When the star asked if he is in custody, the official confirms and
the clip ends with Minaj voluntarily getting into the police van.
“Despite Nicki's best efforts to explore every avenue possible to make tonight's show happen, the events of today have made that impossible,” promoter Live Nation said in a statement on Saturday. “We are deeply disappointed by the inconvenience this has caused.”
Minaj's Manchester show has since been rescheduled for June 3.
