The Music Sustainability Summit has announced the schedule for its second annual conference, which will take place on February 3rd at Solotech Studios in Los Angeles.
Focused on developing climate change solutions in the music industry, the event will feature the following talks and panels:
- C-suite conversation: What it takes to prioritize sustainability: conversation with a
music industry executive on what drives sustainability from the top. - Passing the Microphone: How Gen Z is Leading the Charge for Climate Action: how these
Change agents are transforming industry practices and demanding real progress. - Beyond Backlash: The High Stakes of Climate Advocacy: what is needed for support and
protect musicians who defend the planet. - Power Shift: The Evolving Clean Energy Landscape: where solutions work best, where
there are lessons learned from the trenches. - Wear the Change: Rethinking the Merchandise: explore how artists and their teams navigate
challenges of sustainable commodities. - Behind the Tracks: Music Production, Delivery and Consumption: from packaging to
recycled and renewable vinyl, in significant use of energy from the flow, what is the industry
do to meet the moment? - Nature speaks and takes the stage: among the ground-breaking initiatives that honor her
connecting music with the natural world. - Entertainment Allies: Strategies in Film, Sports, and Broadway: valuable guidance for help
the music industry goes further, faster. - Waste Not, Play On: Tackling the trash problem: a look behind the scenes what
innovations that venues are currently implementing to reduce and divert waste. - Can live music weather the storm? Effects of the economic climate on tours: how insurers and
others are adapting operations to meet today's climate realities.
These conversations will be explored in formats including keynotes, panels, breakout sessions, and roundtable discussions. The event will also offer dedicated networking time, a plant-based lunch, snacks and a cocktail reception.

In addition to the topics of conversation, the Music Sustainability Alliance (MSA), which organizes the Summit, also announced a new partnership with Warner Music Group that will allow accredited students to attend the event. The MSA Scholarship Program offers full top scholarships to 20 students and early-career professionals who are passionate about music and sustainability. Applications are currently open.
In the run-up to the conference, MSA is also seeking input from music industry professionals on how sustainability is being incorporated into their work. The window for submissions, which should be in the form of a short selfie video, is open until January 17. the instructions are here. Submissions will be incorporated into the February summit.
