MGMT joins forces with Christine and Queens for new song 'Dancing in Babylon'. The song, taken from MGMT's Loss of life, accompanied by a mangled 1980s video in which Chris and the duo soundtrack two lovers in battle. Ray Tintori, who shot the videos for “Time to Pretend”, “Electric Feel” and “Kids”, directed, and John Cameron Mitchell and Julian Morris also guest. Watch the short below.
In press material, Chris described that he has “always loved MGMT's multiverse, their freedom and talent, their lucid songwriting and killer soundscapes”. He continued, “Regal, inspired. When they reached out for this power ballad, I was honored and also excited to dive into their dream, because I have the same overall approach to my work. I also liked the background of the lyrics, and I work my lower register here more than usual. I felt invited to their nice movie and I'm glad to be a part of the galaxy now. Let's work for more love in the galaxy of love.”
MGMT's Andrew VanWyngarden and Ben Goldwasser said, “Making the 'Dancing in Babylon' video with Chris and Ray was an amazing (love) affair, requiring everyone involved to operate in six dimensions at once, while simultaneously making a simple turkey sandwich with Dijon. mustard. The resulting sandwich is a worldly mille-feuille that could be seen in most high-end French restaurants.”
