Machine Gun Kelly and Trippie Redd are no strangers to collaboration, but they decided to flesh out their thoughts on a big joint project.
MGK revealed on Wednesday (March 23rd) that he is teaming up with his fellow Ohioan for Genre: Sadboy. The collaborative effort is set to arrive next Friday (March 29), which is already a busy release day with Beyoncé releasing Cowboy Carter.
Kells and Trip took to Instagram to announce the project with accompanying footage of the genre-blending duo dishing out emo-raps in the studio. “Genre: Sadboy 3/29 a project by us,” wrote MGK.
“People won't say how they feel about you until you're dead,” Kelly bluntly declares over the guitar-laden production.
Diplo was excited to hear about MGK and Trippie hooking up as he exclaimed under the comments section: “This will [be] f—–g good!”
Genre: Sadboy will serve as the first project offering of 2024 for both Machine Gun Kelly and Redd. The pair released solo singles earlier in March. They've proven themselves to be a formidable duo in the past while collaborating over the years on tracks like Hotel Diabloof “Candy”, Tickets for My Downfall“All I Know” as well as “Red Sky” and “Pill Breaker”.
The Cleveland native's last rap album came in 2019 with Hotel Diablo following MGK's lucrative two-album rock pivot. of 2022 Mainstream Sellout debuted at No. 1 atop the Billboard 200 with 93,000 album sales.
Trippie has had a busy 2023 whetting fans' appetites with essentially three different projects between them Music Mansion, A love letter to you 5 and Saint Michael V2 deluxe.
