Is Lana Del Rey and Quavo's 'Tough' Almost Here? The pair unexpectedly teased the new track on Wednesday night (June 19), leaving fans of both artists cringing in the Instagram comments.
Quavo has unveiled a music video for “Tough” that will be very, very hard to get out of your head once you play it. She tagged Lana in the post.
Together, they sing: “Hard as the scarf on a pair of old leather boots/ Like blue collar, red dirt/ Like a .38 of brass/ Hard as the stuff in my grandpa's glass/ Life will do what it does/ Sure as the good lord is above/ Cut like a diamond that shines in the rough, hard'.
A release date for “Tough” has not been announced. Advertising sign has reached out to representatives for comment.
While details are scarce at press time, fans got a sneak peek at the new song on Tuesday night.
“The way you can seamlessly combine genres and not make it look like a gimmick is TALENT!! That sounds so good,” praised one follower, while another complimented, “No, it sounds crazy.” Someone compared it to the kind of top-tier pairing you get “when the teacher picks for the group project.”
“Oh, my roots for life are HAPPENING,” wrote one Lana fan, referring to the singer-songwriter's 2017 album that featured A$AP Rocky and Playboi Carti, among others.
Quavo uploaded a short clip of “Tough” to Instagram last month, but Lana's vocal hook on the track hadn't been shared until now. In that first clip for the song, posted on May 9, the Migos star belts out a western-guitar-and-trap-beat outro, with Lana in the background. He tells her, “I'll show you around… Come take a walk with me. Whenever. Whenever you're ready, call me.”
“If you come from where you come, then you were born… Tough!” she captioned the post, which featured a Polaroid of the two hanging out on the front porch of a house.
In February, Quavo released “Himothy,” his first solo offering of 2024 after dropping his second solo album Rocket Power in 2023. Most recently fans heard “Over Hoes & B—es,” released in response to a Chris Brown track. On Tuesday (June 18), which would have been Takeoff's late nephew's 30th birthday, Quavo hosted an anti-gun violence summit in Atlanta with Vice President Kamala Harris.
Lana — who recently talked about an upcoming country album, Lassothe continuation until 2023 Did you know there is a tunnel under Ocean Blvd — is scheduled to appear at Fenway Park in Boston on Thursday (June 20). He's been hitting the spring/summer festival circuit, having played this year's Coachella, Hangout, I-Days and Primavera Sound, with Reading, Leeds and Rock en Seine to come. The sold-out one-night show at Fenway will mark her first concert in US stadiums.
