Lainey Wilson scores her first top 10, with best sales week ever Bulletin boardTop Selling Albums chart (dated September 7) as her fifth studio album Tornado reaches No. 3 with 34,000 copies sold in the U.S. in the week ending Aug. 29, according to Luminate. The set is the follow-up to her breakthrough album Bell Bottom Countrywhich was her only other top-selling album chart set, peaking at No. 15 in November 2022.
Tornado also reaches the top 10 in a number of Bulletin board Album charts, including Independent Albums (No. 1), Top Country Albums (No. 3), the Billboard 200 (No. 8), Vinyl Albums (No. 3) and Indie Store Album Sales (No. 10).
Also in the top 10 of Travis Scott's latest album sales chart Days before the Rodeo ranks at No. 1 with the second biggest sales week of 2024, Sabrina Carpenter scores her biggest sales ever – and second biggest of the year for a vinyl album – with the No. Short n' SweetThomas Rhett scores his seventh top 10 with his No. 5 debut About a womanand FONTAINES DC scored its first top 10 – and best sales week – with its No. 8 opening Romance.
Bulletin boardThe Top Albums Sales chart ranks the best-selling albums of the week based on traditional album sales only. The history of the chart dates back to May 25, 1991, the first week Bulletin board began charting electronically tracked track count information from SoundScan, now Luminate. Net album sales was the sole metric used by the Billboard 200 album chart through the list dated December 6, 2014, after which that chart changed to a methodology that combines album sales with track-equivalent album units and album-equivalent units flow. Tornado starts with 34,000 copies sold and of that amount, physical sales are 22,000 (16,000 on CD and 6,000 on vinyl) and digital download album sales are 12,000.
The set's first-week sales were boosted by its availability on eight vinyl variants, three CD versions (including a signed version sold on Wilson's webstore and a Walmart-exclusive CD containing a branded patch and bonus track), a standard digital download album , and a deluxe digital album variant with four bonus 'tape' recordings (sold via Wilson's website).
Scott's 2014 mixtape Days before the Rodeo roars to No. 1 on Top Albums with 331,000 sold – the second biggest sales week of 2024 and Scott's best sales week ever. (The biggest sales week of the year remains Taylor Swift's debut frame Department of Tormented Poetswith sales of 1.914 million copies.) Days was released on August 23 commercially and widely via streaming services for the first time. Digital download album sales reach 300,000 Daysfirst week total, while CD sales account for the remaining 31,000.
DaysFirst week sales were helped by its availability on eight digital album variants, seven of which included bonus tracks (from unreleased studio cuts, to live tracks, to remixes) and most were sold exclusively through Scott's official store. CD sales of the album came from a stand-alone CD, as well as a CD that was part of a deluxe box set containing a branded hat – both exclusive to Scott's online store.
In the coming weeks, the album will benefit from two vinyl variants that have yet to ship to customers, in addition to two deluxe box sets containing the vinyl LP and branded merchandise – exclusive to Scott's online store.
Sabrina Carpenter's Short n' Sweet debuts at No. 2 on Top Albums with 184,000 sales – her biggest sales week and the fifth biggest debut sales week of 2024.
Short n' SweetIts sales were boosted by its availability in nine vinyl variants, five CD editions, two cassettes and four digital album download variants (three of which were exclusive to its online store). Total vinyl sales totaled 105,000 – Carpenter's best week on vinyl and the second biggest sales week of the year for a vinyl album. Short n' Sweet also debuts at No. 1 on the Vinyl Albums chart. (The biggest vinyl sales week in 2024 for an album belongs to Swift's debut week Poetswith 859,000.)
As for the rest Short n' SweetFirst week sales, it sold 33,000 on CD. 45,000 digital album downloads. and 2,000 cartridges.

Thomas Rhett collects his seventh top 10 effort on the Top Album Sales chart as his latest studio album, About a womanreaches No. 5 with 13,000 sales. Of that amount, nearly 4,000 came from vinyl LP sales – Rhett's best vinyl sales week ever. Its sales were helped by its availability on more than a dozen vinyl variants.
Post Malone's F-1 Trillion drops to No. 6 after debuting at the top of the chart a week ago. It sold 12,000 copies in its second week (down 84%). Stray Kids' former No.1 ATE sinks 4-7 with 12,000 sales (down 17%).
FONTAINES DC's Romance debuts at No. 8 with nearly 9,000 sales – the act's first top 10 and best sales week. The set was available on six vinyl variants (which sold a total of 6,000 – the best week on vinyl).
Rounding out the top 10 selling albums is the EHYPEN chart topper Romance: Unspeakable (moving 5-9 with 8,000, down 19%) and Billie Eilish's Hit with hard and soft (7-10 to 7,000, down 9%).
