This movie has taken the world by storm, earning over $309 million at the worldwide box office. The film opened in theaters in August. The film follows Lily Bloom (played by Blake Lively), a young woman navigating a complicated relationship with her first love. As she grows older, she falls in love with a charismatic neurosurgeon, Ryle Kincaid (played by Justin Baldoni). While dealing with love, trauma and making difficult choices, Lily learns the importance of breaking abusive relationship cycles. According to a review by Acceleratorthe film presented an “emotional and effective portrayal of domestic violence and how to find the strength to overcome it”.

Director and executive producer Justin Baldoni shared in an interview Today about what it was like to direct a film told through a female lens. “The last thing I wanted to do was have a male gaze infiltrate these very important moments that need to be told in a true way, to represent all the women who experience them every day,” she said.
