First-time Grammy nominee Chappell Roan recently won Best New Artist from another institution — the MTV Video Music Awards — accepting her MoonPerson during the Sept. 11 ceremony. Benson Boone, Shaboozey and Teddy Swims were also among the nominees that night.
Roan is nominated in five additional categories at the upcoming Grammy Awards, placing in each of the Big Four categories. Her debut LP The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess is up for album of the year and best pop vocal album, while his smash hit “Good Luck, Babe!” will compete for record of the year, song of the year and best pop solo act. Sabrina Carpenter has a similar hot streak, with Short n' Sweet and the top 'Espresso' in the same five respective categories as Roan's work.
Rising Top Dawg Entertainment rapper Doechii earned a handful of additional nods, including Best Rap Album, for Alligator bites never healand best rap performance for “Nissan Altima.” Kaytranada was also nominated for Best Remix Recording for his performance on Doechii's JT collaboration, “Alter Ego.”
