The 82nd Annual Golden Globe Awards will air live on CBS on Sunday, January 5, 2025. This kicks off a five-year deal to air the long-running awards show on CBS.
The nominations for the 2025 Golden Globe Awards will be announced on Monday, December 9, 2024.
The Globes aired on NBC for all but two years from 1996 to 2023. The show was not televised in 2008 due to a WGA strike or in 2022 amid widely reported ethics and membership issues with the organization. The Globes moved to CBS earlier this year with a well-received and highly rated show that amounted to something Hollywood knows well — a comeback story.
CBS' telecast of the 81st Annual Golden Globe Awards on Sunday, January 7 averaged 10 million viewers (Nielsen Live+7-Day national ratings), up nearly +50% from last year, its largest audience since 2020. telecast hosted by Jo Koy, it was also the third-biggest live-streamed CBS special on Paramount+ ever in terms of average audience and reach.
The Golden Globe Awards, which likes to bill itself as Hollywood's “Biggest Party of the Year,” is the world's largest awards show celebrating the best of both film and television. Airing so early in January, it's also the first big award of the season.
Produced and owned by Dick Clark Productions (DCP), the Golden Globe Awards are shown in more than 185 countries worldwide.
The 2025 show will air Sunday, January 5, 2025 (8:00-11:00 p.m., live ET/5:00-8:00 p.m., live PT) on CBS and will stream on Paramount+ in the US (live and on-demand for Paramount+ with SHOWTIME subscribers or on-demand for Paramount+ Essential subscribers the day after the special).
