George Clooney loves Taylor Swift's style. Following the pop star's recent vocal support for Kamala Harris' presidential campaign, the actor praised her for running in the 2024 election during a red carpet interview with The Associated Press on Wednesday (September 18).
“It was beautiful,” Clooney told the news outlet at the Los Angeles premiere of the new film. Wolves, in which he stars opposite Brad Pitt. “What a beautiful thing to do.”
“It's a real phenomenon right now,” he continued as Pete, standing next to him, nodded. “It's exciting to see all these young people participating in the national dialogue. I think it's exciting. I'm very excited to see her engaged.”
Clooney's comments come more than a week after Swift broke her silence on the election with an Instagram post after the presidential debate emphasizing her support for the Democratic ticket, calling Harris a “steady, gifted leader” and a “fighter » on LGBTQ+ and women's rights. She also accused Donald Trump's campaign of circulating AI-generated images that falsely painted her as a MAGA supporter.
THE Gravity The star is just the latest public figure to praise the 14-time Grammy winner for speaking out, with everyone from Stevie Nicks to Hillary Clinton also backing her last week. But Swift's post also drew backlash from conservatives, including Megyn Kelly, Lil Pab and Trump running mate Jay Dee Vance.
Trump himself also hit back at Swift for supporting his rival, writing on Truth Social, “I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT.”
Clooney has been active throughout the 2024 election, initially endorsing President Joe Biden's re-election campaign before writing a polarizing op-ed on The New York Times urging POTUS to drop out of the race. Biden finally did just that in July, endorsing the second in office for the role.
