Fred Again has done it again, selling out all six of his Australian arena shows within hours of announcing the tour.
The Grammy-winning British producer and artist this week announced three-night stands at Sydney's 22,000-capacity Qudos Bank Arena and Melbourne's 15,000-capacity Rod Laver Arena, as well as a pop-up show on the Gold Coast, south of Brisbane. at a yet-to-be-announced venue.
More than 1 million fans literally lined up for tickets, snapping up more than 100,000 tickets in a “few hours” to sell out, according to reports on Handsome Tours, which is presented on the tour with sister companies Laneway Presents, TEG Live and Astral People.
With his upcoming run in Australia, Fred Again (real name Fred Gibson) has taken the idea of announcing a short tour to another level.
On Tuesday (February 27), Fred announced a surprise Sydney Opera House for that night via his Instagram and it sold out “emphatically”, say representatives of TEG-affiliated Handsome Tours, with more than 145,000 people queuing for less than 3,000 tickets. The one-off show at the Opera House set a record for the most sold-out sales for the iconic venue — all within a 24-hour period.
On the back of this pop-up show, the full-scale tour announces that it's sold out. All dates will be supported by JOY (ANONYMOUS), who debuted new, unreleased music at Sydney's Fred's Opera House special.
Fred Again has a special—and deep—relationship with Australian music fans.
He made his live debut here in January 2023, playing sets at Laneway Festival, selling out headline shows and running DJ pop-ups that reportedly sold out in less than 5 seconds, including a set at Sydney's 5,500-capacity Hordern Pavilion. Last year, he was the most played artist on triple j, the national youth-focused radio network.
