Eminem will headline the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards on Wednesday (September 11), making his first televised appearance since releasing The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce) in July. The show at Long Island's UBS Arena will be the rapper's second opening act, following a 2010 show that kicked off with “Not Afraid” before helping Rihanna with “Love the Way You Lie.” He is currently tied with Phil Collins as the most awarded VMAs winner in history. Landing one of his eight nominations this year — which include video of the year, best hip-hop and song of the summer for “Houdini” — would put him in first place.
Eminem last appeared at the 2022 VMAs, when an NFT company unveiled his and Snoop Dogg's avatars in a makeover attended by the MTV audience. Before that, he came with Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg in 2012 to perform “Forgot About Dre” and “Still DRE” Other performers this year include Chappell Roan, Sabrina Carpenter, Glorilla, Camila Cabello, Rauw Alejandro and Katy Perry, who will receive the Video Award Vanguard. Megan Thee Stallion is set to host.
