DJ Clark Kent has died aged 58 after a battle with colon cancer.

On Friday (October 25), a message posted by the label's beloved family on Clark's Instagram announced his untimely death.
“It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of the beloved Rodolfo A. Franklin, known to the world as DJ Clark Kent,” the message below begins. “Clark died Thursday night surrounded by his devoted wife Kesha, daughter Kabriah and son Antonio.”
“Clark quietly and bravely fought colon cancer while continuing to share his gifts with the world,” the statement continued. “The family is grateful for everyone's love, support and prayers during this time and requests privacy as they process this tremendous loss.”
Clark's contemporaries shared kind thoughts about the DJ in the comments section of the post.
“I've known you since I was 13,” Pete Rock wrote. “Taking the train to Brooklyn just to come practice and dj with you. From the rooftop Union Square Latin Quarter & Madison Square Garning with you. DJ on the radio with you. You show me dj routines in my basement house I knew you were the right person to be around if I wanted to improve my skills, thank you for everything you taught me fame and special memories, but I'm heartbroken, but you achieved so much after that.Brooklyn's top producers , the champions of Rest In Power, now in a different form.
“Damn,” DJ Kid Capri typed. “My brother is gone, it was an honor to have known him, our conversations will be cherished forever, he was one of a kind and the world lost a great, peaceful journey, my brother.”
Clarke's death comes after premature rumors of his death spread on social media last week.
DJ Clark Kent has been a fixture in the hip-hop community. Aside from being one of hip-hop's top record spinners, he also produced classic records like Jay-Z's “Brooklyn's Finest,” Notorious BIG's “Sky's the Limit,” and Junior MAFIA's “Player's Anthem.” He was also an avid shoe collector.
