Diddy has access to use a laptop in prison to help with his legal defense in the sex crime case. However, there are limitations that come with this privilege.
Diddy will be allowed to use a laptop in prison
On December 12, Daily Mail reported that a judge gave Diddy permission to use a court-approved sex laptop to help him review discovery on his arrest for trafficking, racketeering conspiracy and transportation to engage in prostitution charges. However, it cannot access the internet while doing so.
Judge Arun Subramanian issued the order last week in the Southern District of New York. “The purpose of the Discovery laptop is to control discovery, not to take or store notes,” Judge Subramanian wrote in the order.
Diddy will be allowed to use the computer from 8am. to 3:30 p.m., “some” seven days a week. He will be permitted to use the device only to review discovery by the prosecution and defense as it relates to him. Discovery is the formal process through which parties exchange information that may be useful to prove their claims or defenses.
The embattled music mogul will remain at the Metropolitan Detention Center until his trial on May 5, 2025. He has been denied bail three times in the past. Diddy's legal team dropped an additional appeal for bail on December 13. Additionally, they asked if the Bad Boy Records founder can appear in court without bond, but the request was denied.
Didi has pleaded not guilty to the sex crimes. 32 civil lawsuits have been filed against him accusing him of rape, drugging men and women, and physical violence.
