Didi reportedly threatened to see the former Pulse Editor 'dead in the boot of a car' after not allowing him to change his cover photo.
Diddy is reportedly being threatened by the magazine publisher
On Friday (July 12), former Vibe editor-in-chief Danyel Smith wrote an essay on The New York Times Magazine who developed her experience working with Diddy on the magazine. Diddy appeared on the cover of the magazine for the December 1997/January 1998 issue. The cover photo featured Puff looking at the camera through tinted shades with white angel wings spread out behind him. The title of the story was “The Good, the Bad and the Inflatable”.
Smith wrote that Didi allegedly pressured her to see the cover before publication, which was against the magazine's policy. In response, Diddy appeared on Pulsein his offices with the Bad Boy sequence and began looking for Smith. She was led out the back door by her staff to avoid him.
The next day, Smith claims Diddy called her and threatened her saying he knew where she was. He then allegedly told Smith that he would see her “dead in the trunk of a car” if he was not given an advanced copy of the magazine. Puff also reportedly told Smith to “f**k you” after he asked him to apologize. After speaking with her lawyer, Puff reportedly faxed an apology to Smith's office a few days later.
However, the magazine's servers were stolen soon after Pulsehis offices. Smith immediately identified Diddy and his crew as the culprits. Fortunately, a staff member had saved a copy of the cover on her personal server, so the issue ran as planned.
Elsewhere in the lengthy Op-Ed, Smith elaborates on several disturbing moments she witnessed with Diddy, including an instance at a party where he dumped the contents of Kim Porter's purse before asking her to go home.
XXL reached out to Diddy's team for comment.
