The Miami Beach Commission has canceled Diddy Day for the city of Miami.
Miami pulls Diddy Day amid sexual assault allegations
According to a Miami Herald report, released last Wednesday (June 27), the Miami Beach Commission revoked a proclamation declaring October 13, 2016 as “Sean Diddy Combs Day.” This comes three months after the disgraced hip-hop mogul's South Beach mansion was raided during a federal sex-trafficking investigation.
Diddy originally received the honor in 2016 from then-Mayor Philip Levine and the City Commission during the 3rd annual Revolt Music Convention. At the heart of the decision to cancel Diddy Day, representatives cited the graphic 2016 video leaked to the media, which depicted Diddy assaulting his then-ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura.
Diddy has since apologized for his inappropriate behavior in the video.
“After consideration, the Mayor and City Commission have decided that recognizing October 13, 2016 as 'Sean Diddy Combs Day' is no longer consistent with the City's values of safety, well-being and respect for the community and wish to rescind the declaration, ” reads a statement from the board of the Commission.

Diddy has had a few accolades revoked
The Miami Beach Commission is among the few institutions that have rescinded the honors given to Didi.
Last month, Diddy had to return an honorary key to New York City. The honor was given to the music executive in September 2023 for his career in music. In early June, Mayor Eric Adams sent Diddy a letter asking for the key back. In his message to Diddy, Mayor Adams expressed that he was “deeply disturbed” by the leaked video of Cassie and strongly condemned the actions in the video.
In a statement, Fabien Levy, Deputy Mayor of Communications, informed XXL that the letters were sent on June 4th and Didi returned the key on June 10th.
Also in June, Howard University's collegiate newspaper The top of the hill reported that Howard University in Washington had voted to revoke Didi's honorary degree. In addition, the Board voted to terminate a long-term agreement entered into in 2023 by the Sean Combs Foundation and return its $1 million donation.
