Former Daft Punk musician Thomas Bangalter has collaborated with artist JR and choreographer Damien Jallet on the new dance performance Chiroptera, which features 154 dancers and takes place over multiple floors. It made its debut in the forecourt of the Paris Opera last November. Now, over half a year later, Bangalter's soundtrack for that show is finally out, and you can listen to it below.
While of Bangalter Chiroptera The soundtrack is about the length of an EP, he's also shared an additional trove of music from the same project: Premiere Chiroptera Matiere. It's only six hours long. Watch it, as well as a video capturing the impressive dance performance, below.
Bangalter has stayed busy since Daft Punk broke up three years ago. He released his first solo work after their breakup, the orchestral work Mythologiesin 2023, which was originally commissioned by choreographer Angelin Preljocaj for the 2021 ballet of the same name. Bangalter also scored Quentin Dupierre's new comedy Daaaaaaaaay! and contributed to Gaspar Noé's Climax movie soundtrack.
