Cinq Music has acquired the hitmaker's music catalog Flow La Movie, Advertising sign can announce. The late producer's strong catalog includes the reggaetón megahits “Te Boté” and “La Jeepeta” – the former topped Advertising sign's Hot Latin Songs for 14 weeks in 2018. The chart acquisition comes nearly three years since Flow La Movie (born José Angel Hernández) died in a plane crash at age 38 and at the height of his career.
In 2016, Flow started his record label where he developed the then rising artists Nio García and Casper Mágico. Both singers participated in the catalog sale, which was made possible through the Flow La Movie estate, now managed by his daughter, Keigelian Hernandez in collaboration with GLAD Empire (distributor of the indie label), according to Cinq Music. The deal also comes after a complicated legal dispute – over contracts and music linked to Flow La Movie – ended in 2022 when a global settlement agreement legally named Hernández as the sole representative of her father's estate.
Regarding the acquisition of the catalog, the president and co-founder of Cinq Music Barry Dufourn, he says, “Reggaetón has been a core element of our DNA since the inception of this company. I remember the day 'Te Boté' was released and watching the remix explode into a global phenomenon. We all mourned José's loss and are honored to continue his legacy by adding his catalog to our historic portfolio.”
He adds, “Cinq is committed to honoring his life's work and preserving his remarkable legacy. We have tremendous respect and admiration for him and his family and look forward to continuing to build on the special place he holds in the hearts of music fans everywhere.”
