Bright Eyes have announced a long 2025 tour and are back with another new song from their upcoming album Five Dice, All Threes. “Rainbow Overpass” is a horn single featuring vocals from Alex Orange Drink of the So So Glos. Listen to it below.
Conor Oberst elaborated on this collaboration at the heart of “Rainbow Overpass” in a statement, saying: “[Alex is] kind of like my hype man, getting some Beastie Boys! They grew up on punk rock and the Beasties, so there are lots of little bursts of other voices. I like this. It creates energy. Sometimes music can feel flat until you're in a live situation, when there's adrenaline and raw energy. Instead of working backwards, where that happens as we tour, I was trying to put some of that energy into the record.”
Bright Eyes already had a few tour dates on the book for this fall in the US and Europe, but now they're expanding their run with a long list of gigs that keep them on the road into 2025. The new dates kick off in Phoenix, Arizona on January 16th and runs through April 26th, when Bright Eyes perform in West Des Moines, Iowa. Check out their full list of tour dates below.
In addition to Alex Orange Drink, who co-wrote several other songs on the record, Five Dice, All Threes features guests Cat Power and the National's Matt Berninger. Here's the band's 2020 comeback record Down in the weeds, Where the world once was and features the lead single “Bells and Whistles” from last June.
