Beyoncé has her first UK No.1 in 14 years as 'Texas Hold'Em' rockets to the top of the charts.
The country song tops the Official UK Singles Chart, published on Friday, February 23, following a No.9 debut the previous week.
Withdrawn from upcoming LP Act of Rebirth II (via the Columbia/Parkwood Ent project), due out March 29, “Texas Hold 'Em” is Beyonce's sixth UK No.1. Bey's latest was her Lady Gaga collaboration “Telephone,” which she claimed for a chart topper in March. 2010.
Prior to that, the Houston, Texas star scored No. 1 hits with 2008's “If I Were a Boy,” “Beautiful Liar” with Shakira (2007), “Déjà vu” with Jay Z (2006 ) and “Crazy in Love” featuring Jay Z (2003). As a member of Destiny's Child, Bey earned a brace of UK No.1 hits – “Independent Women” (2000) and “Survivor” (2001).
After 2023 breakthroughs from Luke Combs and Morgan Wallen, and now at No.1 with “Texas Hold'Em,” country music is “reviving” in the UK, notes the OCC, a market typically dominated by electronic, pop, rock, hip-hop and indie music.
Second in the final standings is Benson Boone's “Beautiful Things” (Warner Records), up 3-2 for a new chart-topper, while Teddy Swims' “Lose Control” (Atlantic) rounds out the podium, up 4- 3, also a top position.
The top new entry is Dua Lipa's “Training Season” (Warner Records), reaching No.4, for the British pop star's 15th UK top 10 single.
The “yes, and?” by Ariana Grande (Republic Records) is up 10-7 after releasing a new remix featuring Mariah Carey. “Yes and?” peaked in the UK at No.2.
Stranger Things Frontman Joe Keery captures his first UK top 40 appearance with 'End of Beginning' (AWAL/DJO), via the DJO project. Missiles “End of Authority” 100-11. This is an “outstanding” effort, OCC notes, for an artist known to millions for his Netflix lead character Stranger ThingSteve Harrington, the bully turned trusted friend with great hair.
Finally, the Calvin Harris and Rag'n'Bone Man collaboration “Lovers In a Past Life” (Columbia), debuts at No. 19, Harris' 43rd top 40 single and Rag'n's sixth n'Bone Man. The pair previously teamed up on 2019's “Giant” — they're both giant men — which peaked at No. 2.
