Ariana Grande walked the yellow brick carpet, instead of the red carpet, on her way to the Nov. 3 premiere of Bad in Sydney, Australia. Celebrating her role as Glinda, the pop star and actress dressed to the nines in a pink dress that looks straight out of Oz – although it's actually a custom Vivienne Westwood.
With a voluminous tulle skirt, a corset-style bodice, a sheer, puffy shoulder sleeve and sparkling star embellishments, Grande's gown is a tribute to the actress Billie Burke who famously wore it as Glinda in the 1939 film. The Wizard of Oz.
Grande completed her Glinda by Vivienne Westwood look with a diamond butterfly choker by Lorraine Schwartz, stylist Mimi Cuttrell shared on Instagram. The necklace was another nod to the Glinda movie ensemble from the 1939 classic.
Cynthia Erivo, Grande's Bad The co-star, who plays Elphaba, wore a sculptural Louis Vuitton dress with an elegant, strapless corset top and a statement skirt for the premiere on November 3 at the State Theatre. The black dress was a modern nod to the Wicked Witch of the West, without the traditional witch's hat. Like Grande, Erivo also accessorized with a choker—hers features a striking lion, a piece by Roberto Coin, according to stylist Jason Bolden's Instagram tag.
Badthe first of the two-part adaptation of the story to the big screen, will open in theaters on November 22.
