Back to black, the new Amy Winehouse biopic directed by Sam Taylor-Johnson, has an official trailer following last month's teaser. Marisa Abela portrays the late singer on her rise from a bubbly teenager to a troubled jazz and pop icon. the trailer focuses on her bloody approach to her career and the friends, family and other figures who have stood by her along the way. Winehouse already had the documentary treatment in 2015 AmyAsif Kapaida's most investigative documentary, which chronicled the singer's struggles with addiction and malign influences before her death from alcohol poisoning in 2011. Back to black differs from but star documentary, Amy Winehouse – Back to Blackwhich oversaw its construction Back to black album.
Back to black now hits US theaters on May 17, a week later than previously announced. Made with the blessing of the Amy Winehouse Foundation, the film was written by Matt Greenhalgh and was inspired by Amy's “deeply personal and honest lyrics”. Jack O'Connell, Eddie Marsan and Lesley Manville star alongside Abela.
