AEG Presents and Portland, Ore.-based independent promoter Monqui Presents are bringing a brand new music venue to town to be located in the Lloyd District at the former Nordstrom site on NE Multnomah Street.
Developed and operated by the two entities, the 68,000-square-foot venue will offer flexible seating for 2,000 to 4,250 attendees and feature a movable stage for dynamic event configurations. The strategic partnership will be led by AEG Presents' Rocky Mountains and the Pacific Northwest president Don Strasbourg and co-owner of Monqui Presents Mike Quinn.
“This is a project that we've been working on with Don and the AEG Presents team for about ten years — we have a great website, great design and, most importantly, a shared vision to make the audience and the artist experience a really great experience,” Quinn said in a press release. “We are extremely fortunate and excited about this partnership and excited to bring this space to Portland.”
The release details the location of the new venue as “prime” given its location within the boundaries of the Lloyd Entertainment District with “the extensive surface area and adjacent parking facilities, combined with easy access to streetcars, streetcar lines and the newly completed bike north-south and footbridge, ensures unparalleled comfort for attendees.”
“Mike and the entire Monqui team represent the fabric of Portland,” Strasburg added. “We worked together to find the perfect location and designed the perfect venue – we're excited to bring the city of Portland the concert experience it deserves.”
According to the announcement, the venue will feature premium acoustics and viewing angles optimized for each patron, while hosting a wide range of musical genres and special events, from intimate acoustic performances to lavish EDM sets.
Portland-based Works Progress Architecture, which also designed the Mission Ballroom in Denver, has been commissioned to design the new space.
“We've had an incredible 25+ year show promotion relationship with Mike Quinn and Monqui and look forward to many more years of putting on historic shows together,” said AEG Presents Pacific Northwest Regional Vice President. Chad Queirolo.
