During her show in Munich, Germany, last night (August 31), Adele revealed that she will be taking a long “break” after her ongoing residency ends. “I just need a rest,” the visibly emotional singer told the crowd while still on stage. “I've spent the last seven years building a new life for myself and I want to live it now.”
Adele continued: “Everyone who has ever come to one of my concerts, thank you so much for coming. I'm not the most comfortable performer, I know, but I'm very good at it and I've really enjoyed playing for almost three years now, which is the longest I've ever done and probably the longest I'll ever do. I have 10 shows left after this, back at my residence… but after this, I won't see you for a long time, and I will hold you dear to my heart for all of this hiatus… I want to live a new life that I'm building. I will miss you terribly, but I will remember these shows forever.”
Saturday night's concert in Munich was originally scheduled to be the final show of Adele's tour, but a handful of rescheduled dates mean she will now wrap up the run with a Las Vegas residency in November. The British singer performed in a specially designed 80,000-capacity arena at the Munich Messe, created exclusively for her special headline shows there. Taking to social media, Adele called the Munich mini-residence “a bit random, but still great!”
