The Philly Specials charity album A Philly Special Christmas Party makes a festive debut across the street Bulletin boardThe house's charts, which open at No. 1 on Independent Albums. in the top 10 on Top Selling Albums (No. 2), Top Holiday Albums (No. 2), Vinyl Albums (No. 2). and in No. 16 on the all-genre Billboard 200 (all charts dated December 7).
It is the third and final release of the charity series, presented by The Philly Specials (former Philadelphia Eagles football player Jason Kelce and teammates Lane Johnson and Jordan Mailata).
Party arrives with the biggest sales week for any holiday album in the past four years and the biggest sales week for a vinyl holiday album in the modern era (since Luminate began tracking sales electronically in 1991). A Philly Special Christmas Party sold 32,000 copies in its first week (ending November 28), with 22,000 of that amount on vinyl. The album was released commercially on CD, vinyl and digital download on November 22.
The last top-selling holiday set overall was when Carrie Underwood's My present sold 33,000 nearly three months after its release, on the charts as of December 19, 2020. Previously, the best-selling week in modern times for a vinyl holiday set was when Vince Guaraldi's Trio A Charlie Brown Christmas The soundtrack reached 20,000 copies by the end of 2022 (chart date 31 December 2022).
The new Party The album boasts collaborations with Boyz II Men, Stevie Nicks, Mt. Joy and his brother Jason (and the Kansas City Chiefs) Travis Kelce and features covers of tunes like “Maybe This Christmas,” “Last Christmas” and “Please Come Home for Christmas.”
Bulletin boardThe Top Albums Sales chart ranks the best-selling albums of the week based on traditional album sales only. The history of the chart dates back to May 25, 1991, the first week Bulletin board began charting electronically tracked track count information from SoundScan, now Luminate. Net album sales was the sole metric used by the Billboard 200 album chart through the list dated December 6, 2014, after which that chart changed to a methodology that combines album sales with track-equivalent album units and album-equivalent units flow.
