Brittany Howard: Now what [Island]
The title of Brittany Howard's second solo album is two-fold, the Alabama Shakes frontperson said in press material: “Everything seems to be getting more extreme and everyone keeps asking, 'What now? What's next?' By the same token, the only constant on this record is that you never know what's going to happen next: Each song is its own aquarium, its own little miniature world built around whatever I was feeling and thinking at that moment.” . Enter her Jaime follow-up to the title track, a “precisely detailed portrait of the singer-songwriter in conflicted contemplation,” as Allison Hussey wrote in her review of the track.
